Learning Objectives

1- Understanding of childhood trauma, attachment and the researched correlational link to disordered eating

2- Use multiple evidenced-based assessment tools and EMDR interventions to assist clients of all ages struggling with disordered eating, trauma and dissociation – as well as spouses/partners/family members

3- Conceptualization and treatment planning for eating disorders, including levels of care
Work with a treatment team model and the medical/biological factors associated with disordered eating as well as social/cultural/political factors

4- the DOs and DO NOTs when working with disordered eating

5- Understand and evaluate self of the therapist dynamics or countertransference that can impact treatment efficacy

6- Gain a full awareness of how to use the 8 phases and 3-pronged approach of EMDR therapy to address disordered eating, body image issues

7- Tailor each of the 8 phases from an empowering, body-positive, holistic perspective
Apply case studies and conceptualization, participate in activities to assist with body positive terminology, awareness and intervention

8:10am-8:30am: Regional Network Meeting – this is where we discuss our Regional EMDRIA group, updates and future plans.

Presenter Bio:

Lori Kucharski has practiced therapy since 2004 in various settings. She now operates a private clinical, supervision, training, and consultation practice. She is a clinical member and Approved Supervisor for the AAMFT and a Certified Therapist, Approved Consultant, and Training Provider through EMDRIA in the USA. She is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist/Supervisor, and she is the regional coordinator for the regional EMDRIA and Trauma Recovery Networks and specializes in dissociation/complex trauma, disordered eating, and attachment. She regularly travels to various locations to train and advocate for body positivity, holistic wellness in trauma recovery, and disordered eating awareness.



PLEASE NOTE:  This training is not an EMDR basic training. It is recommended that you complete the full EMDR basic training and have experience in using EMDR with this client population before using this material. Eligibility for EMDRIA Credits is restricted to those who have completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training. Attendees who are partially trained in EMDR are not eligible to receive EMDRIA Credits. All attendees may receive continuing education credits.

October 2019 Training

  • This training is open to individuals who have not completed a Basic Training (but have completed at least the 20 hours of instruction in a Basic Training), but you must have completed your Basic Training to receive EMDRIA CEU’s. If you have not completed a Basic Training, you may still receive a certificate of completion.
